FAQ?

Can I remain anonymous?

The short answer is Yes. By authorising us to act as your representative whichever newspaper or magazine we go to will only have our names.

What if I am not happy with the newspaper or magazine?

First things first – the most important person in this whole process is you. If at any stage you are unhappy with the publication Dennis will immediately end discussions with them and place the story somewhere else.

Can the newspaper or magazine print my story without paying me?

No story will be printed without the publication agreeing to a legally-binding contract guaranteeing payment upon publication.

How do I get paid?

Newspapers and magazines are like any other commercial business, and have accounts departments who manage editorial budgets as best they can.  As such they will only pay for a story after it has been published.  No-one will pay in advance of a story in case it falls down at the last moment.

Going through Moneyforyourstory you can be sure that the newspaper will pay the fee, which has been agreed in advance - usually through a legally binding agreement or written contract.  The exact payment date depends on the accounts department of the particular newspaper/magazine, but inside a month after publication is the norm.

In the right hands (ie ours) you can earn money for the same story several times over.  Again this is all managed by us so that you do not have the worry or hassle of negotiating yourself.  Rest assured we will not be shy about communicating your requirements on your behalf.

When do I get paid?

Much as we would all like it to be the case, no-one gets paid until after a story is actually published. That is why it is vital that you have the right person representing you – a mistake early on can result in your ending up with nothing. Typically a fee is paid within 28 days of publication.

How much do I have to pay you?

Nothing. We negotiate an entirely separate fee with the newspaper or magazine for helping get your story into print.

What if I have got something to promote as well?

Depending on the type of story, Dennis can ensure that it mentions whatever you are trying to promote as part of the contract. He also has strong contacts in television and radio should you want the broadcast media to cover the story as well.

What if I don’t want the money?

There may be a charity which would be very grateful should you decide to donate all or part of your fee. That is completely up to you.

What if the story turns out not to be true?

Sometimes, with the best will in the world, we all make a mistake. Contrary to what their critics say, newspapers and magazines will never run a story if it is untrue. They will require some form of proof or directions as to how they can find the evidence for themselves. Dennis has been doing this bit for 20 years and it isn’t as insurmountable or difficult as it sounds.
