    • Rat dumps Bride of the Year: Now groom's hitched up with model

Bride of the Year Emma McIntyre's marriage was blown apart after only 10 WEEKS ... when her groom ran off to end up honeymooning in Paris.

Rat Darryl Johnson dumped Emma after they'd won a £10,000 prize for being perfect newyleds - and then took up with a model from Teesside named after the French capital.

"She's welcome to him," stormed Emma, 22. "The last few months married to him have felt more like 30 years."

Emma discovered Darryl's affair after finding dozens of mobile calls to 19-year-old Paris Beaclaudette on his mobile phone bill. She also discovered the beauty bragging on her Facebook page that he loved "abitta filth".

Now Emma is ending a marriage that barely lasted as long as the local newspaper Bride of the Year contest she won.

"It was the dream that turned into a nightmare," said Emma. "It has taken him moving out to realise what a blight he was on my life."

The couple landed the prize after Darryl hit local headlines by erecting three huge wooden hearts around Hartlepool saying "Darryl Johnson Loves Emma McIntyre This Much".

He told how he sent her flowers every day which melted the hearts of voting readers.

Among the £10,000 package of prizes they won was a free £1,500 wedding album, £500 towards the bride's dress, £900 worth of bridesmaids outfits and two wedding rings worth £500. Darryl, 25, said: "We know we are committed."

But even before their August ceremony, Emma heard alarm bells. "As it was Bride of the Year the photographers were always concentrating on me - he complained about that," she says.

"Then he tried to ban my mum, who has multiple sclerosis, from seeing us because he said she was interfering."

"And on the wedding day he kicked up because his daughter from another relationship hadn't been seated next to him. I held my head in my hands and thought, 'What have I done?'"

They moved into a rented home but Darryl left in October to live with his gran. He told us: "We split up on mutual grounds. I only started seeing Paris afterwards."

"I loved Emma to bits but, you know, things change."
