Homeowner Mr Sims was startled by a deafening bang and ran downstairs to find the front of a car sticking through his door. After the driver was taken to hospital his son took several pictures of the damage and his astonishing photos were published in a major newspaper.

The front of a Peugeot 206 fills a hallway after it smashed through the front door in a freak accident yesterday.
The young driver, a soldier, is thought to have been in a smash with another vehicle on the road before ricocheting up the driveway and bouncing off a car parked outside the house in Reading. He was knocked unconscious and was in hospital last night with a serious head injury.
